REACH

Legislation

Producers and importers of chemical substances/preparations and objects will be obliged, in accordance with the regulation, to carry out pre-registration and subsequently registration of the specified chemical substances. The registration of the chemical substances will comprise above all broader and deeper information on physical-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of the registered chemical substances.

Pre-registration of the chemical substances commenced on 1 June 2008 and will proceed till 1 December 2008. Depending on the pre-registered quantity of the chemical substance and its properties, the registration will have to be carried out, namely within one of the three deferring deadlines (till 1 December 2010, 1 June 2013, 1 June 2018). The pre-registration is carried out currently on the European Chemicals Agency’s (ECHA) site through the REACH-IT portal in English language.

! Attention – with the arrival of the REACH regulation, amendment to the existing Czech Chemical Act occurs (No. 356/2003 Coll., as amended). The main change relates to the safety data sheets, which are necessary to be in accordance with the REACH regulation structure and requirements (Annex No II to the REACH regulation) already upon coming of the new chemical act into force. The safety data sheets drawn up in accordance with Decree No. 231/2004 Coll. shall be considered as insufficient and in case of an inspection from the part of inspection authorities you may be sanctioned!

More information to the REACH regulation, including the possibility of downloading of this regulation’s current version and the possibility to gain an answer to the requested question, you may find of the servers of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and of Czech Environmental Information Agency (CENIA).
